R-4 Set up

Hardware:

While we recommend the hardware designed for this boat others can be used. When mounting the stuffing tube, do NOT mount off center it will cause chine walking. You can still angle the drive to achieve the straight line attitude (one degree). Mount the stuffing tube ½” off keel. Start with the rudder at least 2” below keel. This allows the boat to have SOME left turn, the more blade =’s more left turn but slows the boat down.

 CG 30%

To achieve the CG you will need to have everything in place. Mount the hardware, engine, (14 ¼” from inside transom to plug center) and finish with the tank. Make sure to use an empty tank and have prop in place too.  On both sides, measure 14 ½” from outside transom and make a mark. (Masking tape is good for marking on.) Next take a broom handle and balance the boat. Move the tank to the needed area to achieve the balance on the mark.

(note: R-3’s CG is 32% all else is the same. R-3’s strakes stop 7” from transom)
