Trimming the Plastic off the bottom of the 32cc McCulloch

When installing the 32cc McCulloch you will find that there is unnecessary plastic on the bottom. In most cases this step is not required, but we do recommend doing in all installations. The purpose of this step is to achieve a lower engine mounting point. Keep in mind that the optimal clearance from the bottom of the engine to the hull is ¼ to ½ inches. Make absolutely sure that the engine is not touching the hull. If the engine is touching the hull, it can crack the hull, or even worst, rub a hole.

This is the material that is to be removed.

Trim the plastic using a cut off wheel. Look close before you cut to know what you plan to cut. A mold line in the plastic can be seen. Don’t try to get it all at once you can always take more off but not the other way around. When doing this, level the wheel to the lower surface. If the cut is made up and down, it will not look right and could puncture the lower lover.

Around the screws work the same way. Trim up the sides also to avoid some notching of the stringers. As with most engines, the 32cc requires notching of the stringers.
